    ORIGIN OF ACTION:
    1. (U) Selfgenerated.

    SUMMARY:
    2. @ A number of Sec Def directed actions are underway to improve the biological warfare (BW) defense
    preparedness of CINCCENT assigned forces. These actions include a BW vaccination program and fielding of
    biological air samplers.

    3. IM Country clearance is required for preventive medicine teahi to assist in vaccination program and team
    to operate biological air samplers. This initial deployment of air samplers will collect background air
    samples to determine endemic biological material present in the air. Additional samplers and operators will
    deploy on or about 15 Jan 91.

    4. @ ARCENT requested deployment of air sampling equipment and teams (TAB A).

    RECOMMENDATION:
    5. (U) That CAT Team Chief release message to CINCCENT and ARCENT requesting
    country clearance for preventive medicine team and air sampling team
    (ENCLOSED)
