INSTRUCTIONS TO UNITS TO PREPARE TO RECEIVE VACCINES
i. Representative from the 12th or 7i4th Med Det will present you with
ithis document and explain the procedures described below. Because of the

;limited time during which this program is being carried out@ please
;cooperate completely, and permit them to be as brief as possible. DO NOT
ISHOOT THE MESSENGER, they are only providing the limited'information
;present on this page.
,%2. Each unit receiving shots must have the following things provided'when
tthe shot team arrives. If these things are not provided upon arri@ial of
,-the shot team, they will go on to another unit and yours will drop to the
::bottom of the list. Each unit must provide exactly what is listed,
.:exactly as Specified. If a lengthy explanation is expected by You, we
will return to your unit after others have been completed if there is
:still time to administer the shots to your unit:
':aL. While reactions to the vaccination are rare'and we are not presently
..aware of anyone who has had a severe reaction beyond a 1-2 f?tin. burning

iii, at the rear of the tent, four cots (two along each side) and

v. inside the tent, two responsible individuals must be provided
one to brief the troops receiving the shots after they enter the
tent, one to supervise the recovery of personnel for 2-.5 minutes
after receiving the shot.

possible as a result of the vaccine:
i. personnel can expect some'biti,ning at the injection siLL- for up tc3 2
minutes after injection.
ii. Less than 6% DP personnel will experience inild discomfort at the
site for 2-3 days.
'Iii. Less than 1% will have a more severe local reaction lasting 1-2
days.
REMEMBER: ALL PREPARATIONS MUST BE READY WHEN THE SHOT TEAM ARRIVES!
