VA LOWERS HOME LOAN RATES

The Department of Veterans Affair has lowered the maximum loan interest rate for home
loan guarantees from 10 percent to 9.5 percent. The lower rate went into effect 19 Nov
90 and reflects the recent broad general decline in interest rates. This is the first lower-
ing of the VA rate since July 1989. The new rate is for home and condominium loans.
The new rate means that monthly payments for principal and interest on the typical VA
loan of $80,000 will amount to $672.29, which is $29.37 per month less than the previous
rate.

Also lowered are rates for manufactored homes, to 12 percent; graduated payment mort-
gages, to 9.75 percent; manufactured home and lot combination loans, to 11.5 percent;
manufactured home lots only, guarantees maybe used to purchase, improve or refinance
a house or condominium, and to purchase or refinance a manufactured home.

NEW DEGREE CCAF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

The community college of the Air Force has tailored a two year Information Manage-
ment Degree Program to meet the changing needs of all Air Force information managers,
the college announced Dec. 19. The degree program began in January with the implemen
tation of CCAF's new 1991-1992 catalog. The degree will affect those people serving in:
	702XO, Information Management
	893XO, Chapel Management
	99505, Courier
	99603 ICBM NCO Code Controller
	99804 Postal Specialist
	99703 Defense Attache Specialist

CCAF's charter is to offer career-relevant degree programs to each enlisted member
of the Air Force. Alter meeting with subject matter specialist, TSGT. Marvin Williams,
CCAF program administrator for administrative programs, began developing a degree -
program to keep information managers abreast of current administrative technology

The information management title was chosen because it is both descriptive and easily, -
recognized in the civilian education community. CCAF is the largest community col-
lege in the United States granting two-year degrees to Air Force, Air National Guard
and Air Force Reserve members. More details are available at local education offices.
Specific questions can be addressed to MSGT. Conner Blaine.
