                        KKIA ACTIVATES MOPP ALPHA

MOPP level ALPHA is a new chemical protection level.
It has been developed because of the decreased threat
of chemical agents and to conserve the use of our
          chemical defense equipment.
"It provides adequate initial protection for the local
threat, while conserving our supplies of chemical defense
     equipment," said [(b)(6)] Disaster Preparedness
Officer here. "Instead of going ALARM RED MOPP 4, we will
    go ALARM RED MOPP ALPHA."
MOPP ALPHA consists of the following:
               * Take cover in a hallway or bunker.
               * Don mask, hood and gloves.
               * Ensure full body coverage with fatigues or long pants
                  and long sleeve shirts.
               * Keep CWD equipment close at hand.
After an attack, the base will go to ALARM BLACK MOPP
   ALPHA. Everyone will need to:
               * Keep windows and doors closed.
               * Be alert for signs of chemical contamination.
               * Travel only if it is mission essential.
If chemical agents are detected, the base will go to ALARM
BLACK MOPP 4. If chemical agents are not found, we will return
to ALARM YELLOW.
" If you are going to remain outside during the attack, we
recommend donning your rain gear," [(b)(6)] said. Leave
the CWD suit in its protective bag but, keep it with you in case
MOPP 4 is declared.
When your first suit expires, turn it in to base supply. If
the second suit is opened but not worn for the initial four hours, reseal the suit in
a plastic bag.
"If for some reason you don't have a second suit, base supply will issue you one
when your first suit expires," the captain said. "We caution you not to remove this
suit from its protective bag unless we actually go to ALARM BLACK MOPP 4, when con-
tamination is present."
Any questions about the MOPP ALPHA should be directed to Disaster Preparedness at
   [(b)(2)]
