File: 970207_aadci_044.txtODS MEDICAL LESSONS LEARNED LOGISTICS CATEGORY LOGISTICS ISSUE NO. 14 Requirement for medical gases (SGHR ITEMS NO. 195, 214) BACKGROUND: Some ATHs had insufficient bottled medical gases, and liquid oxygen was not always available at the deployed sites. When it was available, the hospital did not have priority in obtaining required quantity of liquid oxygen. DISCUSSION: The TA does not contain sufficient supplies of medical gases and the requirement to have gas bottles filled in the AOR proved to be a major challenge. RECOMMENDATIONS: Quantity, type, and size of medical gases must be reviewed and changes to the TA made. The possibility of prepositioning medical gases and establishing host nation support agreements for refill is a must. ACTIONS REQUIRED: ACC review TAs and update as needed. ACTIONS COMPLETED: ACC has reviewed and updated TAs, and has coordinated with base support planning offices to ensure adequate support for future deployments. STATUS: Recommend closure.
