         CATEGORY: Command and Control

         ISSUE ITEM #:

         SUBJECT: The Decision Making Process

BACKGROUND: We have heard many positive comments from both
medics and line members who were impressed with the Air Force
medical service's ability to maintain a high level of quality
medical care in support of operations in Southwest Asia as well
as back here in CONUS. This praise was the result of dedication
to mission and cooperation among all parties involved (including
         patients and family members).

DISCUSSION: The impact of this success brings short term and
long term rewards. Short term, morale of troops involved in the
operation were boosted in the knowledge that both they and their
family members were receiving excellent care throughout the
crisis. Long term, the credibility of the medical service is
enhanced and will serve as credible retention tool.

         ACTION RECOMMENDED: None.

         SUGGESTED OPR(s): None.

ALAN R. CONSTANTIAN, Capt, HQ AFSC/SGAX
                              [(b)(2)]
