-- Col Reavey said it looks like a target hit it anything out
there to protect ground troops
-- Put B-52s on uncovered infantry battalions
-- High releases about 17,000 feet to defeat haze effects at
lower altitudes
-- 14 F/A-18s launched against Scuds reported several secondary
explosions
-- Continue to use JSTARS for knocking out artillery and armor
0135 Discussing Situational Awareness (SA) Col Reavey noted
that the flow in for targets was good and Col Harr followed with
Feedback is terrible. In talking about BEZ and VEZ areas. They
noted that there are plenty of lucrative targets but we're not
getting the feedback as to how well we're doing.4
[(b)(l)sec3.4(b)(l)]
Col Reavey asked that F-16 FDO look at target movement
detected by JSTARS. Tasked units were F-16C LANTIRN equipped
jets. Movement was detected by JSTARS in AF5 -appeared to be a
lot of movement where marines were currently advancing.
Col Harr briefed Gen Olsen that we can't tell if the
movement means that they're bugging out, running around in
circles, or attacking.
0148 [(b)(1)sec3.4(b)(1)]
Gen Corder wanted to get report evaluated but Capt
McNary felt that coordinates were not specific enough to send a
package on it. Commander Anderson (USN) noted that RF-4s could
easily locate and have info in TACC about an hour after landing.
29.46N 46.54E VEZ coordinates for significant movement - Col
Reavey noted I'm not going to worry about it. I know we have a
good target. Consensus was that coordinates were either the 12th
AD or Tawaconna Rep Guard Division. Col Reavey emphasized, I
don't give a shit whose there, they're there. Gen Glosson noted
unless they've moved that's where they've always been.
Col Reavey wanted JSTARS to look at AE5 kill zone portion
where the 12th was suspected of being. He wanted to know if they
moved and were facing off against VII Corps below VEZ.
Col Harr expressed concern of 1st Cav movement in relation to
fratricide possibility and asked to find out 1st Cav's location.
4 This appeared to be one of the primary themes if the
not the primary theme of the evening. TACC had no problem getting
sorties in the air but finding out mission success proved to be a
horse of a different color.
