Col Harr noted that we surprised tank column in AE6. We hit
them before they even knew they were targets. This was a VII
Corps objective. A-10s would replace F-llls at sunrise.
[(b)(l) sec 3.4(b)(l)] Israel.
0455 JSTARS reports very large convoy moving toward AE6.
Col Reavy remarked, "I'm not scared."
Info received that 5 Iragi CCs were assassinated on 17 Jan
91. All occurred in KTO, all were armored divisions. Breakdown =
three executed, two assassinated.
0511 Silkworm fired at USS Glouster. Navy Sea Dart (anti-
missile-missile) killed silkworm.
Maj Daye commented that AE6 with F-llls is where all the
action is tonight. JSTARS guy remarked I hope they're not
friendliest Maj Daye assured him they were not. Maj Daye said
that after last A-10 ship oh AE6 north as of 0220Z A-10s would
work southern portion and talk to ABCCC. They wouldn't need to
be deconflicted in this area. ASOC was geared to divert A-10 air

when the sun came up but nevertheless JSTARS had been tasked to
provide data during daylight hours.
VII Corps moved out 15 hours early with three divisions
moving west and eventually enveloping back to the east. The 1st

this easy, all units would have walked straight through. 1st Cav
was to cross the Wadi river.
0541 Col Harr explained that we have been working AE6 for about

now with more to follow at sunrise. Col Harr was upset though
because some F-llls went to the ASOC instead of ABCC for targets.
I asked him about the consequences and he related that he
wouldn't know the results until this evening. Col Reavy noted
that despite all the labor that's gone into improving procedures
through ABCCC, crews still rely on old habits and go directly to
the ASOC. Old habits die hard.
[(b)(l) sec3.4 (b)(l)] a "Scud Cap" mission resulted in a Scud MEL
kill in the west last night.
Table discussion stressed that the problem here is we don't
have direct communication here. Sometimes we have comm with ACE
but never with JSTARS. SA really poor in here, no feedback.
During Shift change Col Doman asked if we took A1 Salmann.
Col Reavey answered I don't think so. Col Doman also asked if we
