    meeting would be held at 1900. This meeting consisted of medical briefings and
    introductions, financial briefings and issue of UN hats and arm bands. The
    Team composition consisted of:

    1900 meeting, introduction by team chief. Advised that Iraqi had approved in
    principle the use of the helicopters. Also provided inspection philosophy and
    indicated Iraqi cooperation during inspections when confronted with evidence.
    They have been playing a massive shell game with their assets. Additionally,
    EOD was requested to closely examine all found ordnance and try and determine
    if it was moved and placed by Iraqis to ward off inspectors or actually
    dropped at that location by coalition aircraft. The Iraqis are also suspected
    of pouring nerve and blister agents and dropping the ordnance casing near
    inspection sites to "scare off" UN inspectors, and claiming that it is damage
    caused by attacks;
    
    	Purpose of the team is to locate and identify for destruction am
    verify the destruction of ballistic missiles, support equipment, components,
    transport and handling vehicles and equipment. Ballistic missiles were define
    by the UN Resolution 687 as those that had a capability in excess of 150 KM.
    
    3 Sep 91: Team received briefings from the UN briefing team comprised of a
    multi national group who had "pertinent information regarding Iraq". They were
    mostly American and I will not speculate as to their employer. Maps, line
    drawings, and photographs were provided and an inspection plan was detailed.
    The team chief also informed us that the Iragis were now disapproving the use
    of the helicopters. The issue would go to the UN Security Council. The
    remaining days were to be used to take care of personal business and
    recreation for acclimatization of those individuals not used to the
    temperatures of the region.
    
    4 Sep 91:0900 team meeting, travel plans are still on although use of
    helicopters is now in doubt. The choppers are in transit to Turkey and will be
    held over there until clearance is received. Baggage will be turned in for 5
    Sep departure. Team meeting scheduled for 2100. Still no UN certificates for
    the EOD team. They are due in this evening.
    
    2100 The certificates did not arrive for five Americans, not just EOD and the
    State Department indicated we will not travel without the certificates as they
    provide "immunity and protection". The departure has been postponed until 6
    Sep to allow one more day for the certificates.
    
    5 Sep 91 2100 hours: Certificates arrive and will depart for Iraq on a German
    C-160 at 0800. We were also informed that an Iraqi who was helping destroy
