     1. SITUATION


         a. Enemy Forces. Annex A (Intelligence).
         b. Friendly Forces.
             (1) 101st Abn Div (AASLT) conducts covering force
     operations in sector in five phases. Phase I is movement to and
     Occupation of the covering force area. Phase II is the
     covering force battle with attack helicopter and +ire support to
     Eastern Province Army Command. Phase III is the passage of lines
     with movement to the Corps western +lank. Phase IV is a guard
     mission along the western +lank. Phase V is prepare for -Future
     operations defined as: 1) r)RB as Corps/Theater reserve 2)
     Receive a EDE TF from Ist Cav +or a blocking action or
     counterattack along Tapline road 3) On order, guard the Corps
     northwest +lank +or the counterattack 4) Reestablish the covering
     force area after the defeat of the Iraqi second echelon.
             (2) 101st DISCOM provides for CSS +or 101st Abn DIN;
     (AASLT) operations through a @ix of@Forward Operating Bases (FOD)@
     and Logistics Assault Bases (LAB).       operations will be
     conducted as per 101st-D-IS            -3 and this OPLAN.
