         2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD/STORM conducted by CENTCOM on
         05/14/91.


         3. (U) KEYWORDS: UNIT EaurPMENT, AUEL

         4. (U) TITLE: Automated Unit Equipment List (AUEL)

         5. (U) OBSERVATION: The unit AUEL was inadequate and had to be
         developed on a short suspense when redeployment from Saudi
         Arabia began. As a result the LOSMAR labels placed on our
         vehicles were inaccurate. This led to inaccurate ship manifests
         that added difficulty to the planning required to transport the
         vehicle from the port of Wilmington to Fort Bragg.

         6. (U) DISCUSSION: The development of the AUEL was not given
         much priority during its development last June. This must be
         given a higher priority. Units should review LOSMAR labels
         prior to assuming mission to ensure they are accurate and that
         there is one for every piece of equipment in their unit.

         7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: N/A


         B. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: The battalion needs to maintain a
         LOGMAR label on every piece a-F equipment in a deployment file.
         This equipment needs to include all connexes.
