d. The DMSO places requisitions for medical gvpplieg on Class VIII supply point
established in the Corps rear area by the medical brigade of the Corps.
9. The DMSO is responsible for the gtockage of medical supplies in the Division
Supply Point.
f. Whole Blood Procedures:
(1) Whole blood requirements are forwarded through the Division Surgeon'g
Office (via Daily Blood Request and Status Report IDBRSAI TAB E to Appendix 1 ANNEX X
Reports) to the appropriate blood distribution element designated by the Army Blood
Program Officer. Once blood hag been authorized for use within the division,
resupply Is accomplished through the normal blood bank service channels.
(2) Under combat conditions, medical supplies and whole blood may be expended
for US civilian casualties. Under emergency conditions to save life, limb, or eight,
medical supplies and whole blood may be expended for foreign indigenous civilians.
(3) Whole blood will be gtored and maintained by the clearing stations in
quantities and types as determined by the Division Surgeon and IAW storage
capabilities.
g. Transportation of Medical Supplies:
(1) Whenever possible, medical material will be moved by air if such movement
will meet a critical requirement or significantly decrease perishability of the item.
Priority for air movement will be given to whole blood and other items as deemed
nece;sary by the division surgeon.
(2) Units and organizations will be responsible for pick up of all supplies,
except whole blood, from designated supply points.
h. Routine medical supply will consist of equipment and expendable iterag
authorized by TOE. Requisitions of medical supplies in any other categories will be
Submitted with a justification to the Division Surgeon. DMSO will process such
eon.
I. Captured Medical Material:
(1) Commanders will report type, amount, and location of captured medical
supplies to the Division Surgeon and the nearest intelligence officer.
(2) Captured medical equipment will not be destroyed, but evacuated to the
nearest division nedical supply point unless needed to treat EPW's and indigenous
civilian personnel. Under these conditions, coordination with G5 is required.
(3) These supplies will not be used for treatment of US or allied personnel
unless approved by the Division Surgeon.
