   @ROMEDICAL EVACUATION


   1. GENERAL.

       a. Air ambulance helicopters attached/agaigned to the COSCOM will provide
   aeromedical evacuation for the following categories of personnel in accordance with
   the priority indicated be#ow:

            (1) US Military Personnel.

            (2) Civilian employed by US Government/other US citizens.

            (3) Members of allied force.

            (4) PW patients.

            (5) Civilian war casualties.


            (6) Others for humanitarian reasons.

       b.   Air ambulances will be used for the following medical missions within the
   area of  operations:

            (1) Aeromedical evacuation of patients.

            (2) Movement of medical supplies and equipment.

            (3) Transportation of medical personnel.

       c. Any available US helicopter may be use for emergency evacuation when time
   does not permit arrangement for an air ambulance.    The aircraft commander will enter
   the aeromedical evacuation net for instructions as   to which medical facility the
   pationt(g) should be taken.

   2. PROCEDURES.

       a. Aeromadical evacuation requests will be made on the maneuver battalion
   admin/log net to the battalion headquarters. The S3 section of the battalion will
   then switch to the division internal evacuation frequency to request air evacuation
   from the supporting air ambulance unit.

       b. The determination of the seriousness of the Injury, for the purpose of
   requesting air evacuation will be made by the senior medical person present.

       c. Prior to take off or immediately thereafter, the requested evacuation
   helicopter will contact the DACE frequency to coordinate an MRR.

       d. Air evacuation requests will contain the following information:

            (1) Location - gix-digit coordinates of the pickup site.

            (2) Radio frequency and call sign at patients location.
