  AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION

              (3) Patient category precedence (URGENT, PRIORITY, or ROUTINE).

              (4) Special equipment required.

              (9) Tactical security at pickup site.

              (10) Nationality of patient.

      a. Hoist Operations.

              (1) Hoist mission will be requested when standing Zone cannot be made
   available.


              (2) Patients to be extracted will be ready for evacuation and located at the
   site prior to arrival of the air ambulance.

              (3) When requesting a night extraction, the senior person at the site will
   ensure that the patient is of an URGENT precedence and cannot wait until daylight for
   evacuation.

       f. Explosive devices (i.e., gronadeg and other such munitions) should be removed
   from patients uniform prior to aeromedical evacuation.

              A member of the US Armed Forces ghould-be at the pickup site when MEDEVAC
   request is for allied forces, military personnel and/or indigenous civilians.

   3. PATIENT CATEGORIES OF PRECEDENCE.


       a. Medical:

              (1) URGENT - Emergency cases must be evacuated immediately to gave life, limb
   or eyesight. This precedence is used when the condition of the patient is such that
   evacuation is required as soon as possible, not to exceed 2 hours. Psychiatric cases
   are not included in this category.

              (2) PRIORITY - This precedence is used when the patient must be evacuated as
   soon as possible, not to exceed 4 hours or big medical condition will deteriorate to
   the degree that he will become an URGENT case. Psychiatric patients are not In this
   category. PRIORITY evacuations requested during the 3 hours preceding first light
rlier, at the discretion of
   the MEDEVAC aircraft commander.
