          4. (U) TITLE: MORALE, WELFARE, AND RECREATION

          5. (U) OBSERVATION: The MWR administration was non-existent in
          this immature environment.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: Recreation equipment was placed on the la ,st
          boat because of initial unavailability of the equipment at home
          base. MWR system was not in place during the first four weeks
          for soldiers to enjoy some type of recreational activities.

          7. (U) LESSON LEARNED:
            - Place recreational equipment on the first boats controlled
          by divisional units.
            - Deploy MWR personnel at the first planes.
            - Train more people at battalion / MSC level on MWR
          activities.

          8. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION:
            - MWR trained people need to develop a written plan and offer
          ideas to the field.            I
            - Companies need to deploy with a 30 day MWR survival package
          with their equipment.
            - MWR installation activity at home base must be involved in
          assisting units during deployment.
