            4. (U) TITLE: CORPS INTELLIGENCE COLLECTION PLAN

            5. (U) OBSERVATION: The corps collection plan did not cover the
            entire battle and project out the follow-on missions.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: Collection planning only went as far as the
            Objective Gold-jalibah area. As a result, the intelligence from
            Corps to Division was excellent up to this area but seemed
            virtually non-existent east of this area. Redirection of Corps
            collection assets once the Division turned east seemed slow.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Collection planning must include
            contingency operations. The speed of OPERATION DESERT STORM
            caused the Division to outrun its ability to collect information
            by anything other than human intelligence assets. This
            increased our dependency on corps for deep battle information.

            S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: The corps collection manager should
            meet with the MSC and separate brigade collection managers to
            plan the collection plan and the redirection of assets
            throughout the entire operation, including contingency missions.
