                                                                          05/1-
                                      J=S LONG PEPORT

            1. (U) JULLS NMMPR: 51974-95769 (00004), submitted by G2, 24
            870-55161 (912)767-5516.

            2. (U) No type OPN DESERT STORM NOTES conducted by 24 IN DIV (DO.
            on 05/20/91.

            3. (U) KEYWORDS: TOPOGRAPHIC, TERRAIN, INTELLIGENCE,

            4. (U) TITLE: TOPOGRAPHIC SUPPLIES

            5. (U) OBSERVATION: Topographic supplies were not available for
the support of the terrain team attached to the division.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: The supply system was cumbersome and slow.
When attempts were made to purchase the necessary materials
(Diazo film and paper, drafting pens) from the local economy,
the process again proved to be slow and cumbersome. The terrain
team provides the majority of the support for reproduction of
products produced by the various staff sections and the terrain
team for the NSC and separate battalion elements. Sufficient
funds are not available to ad @ ately support the divisional
            units.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: In response to the logistical problems,
the terrain team would have to order supplies in bulk to ensure
enough supplies are available. The problem with this solution
            is one of storage abailability.

            S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: 30th Engineer Battalion
(Topographic) should be the point of contact for supplies for
the terrain teams attached to the divisions.

            9. (TJ) COMMENTS: The supply system is inad@ate in supporting
            unique requirements.

                 (U) SUB,3-ECT: INTELLIGENCE

                 (U) INTEROP ILITY: MATERIEL

                 (U) Lesson distributed by: 24TH IN DIV.
