          on 05/20/91.

          4. (U) TITLE: DIVISION INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM

          5. (U) OBSERVATION: The division intelligence system does not
          currently have a capability to rapidly restore record traffic
          communications upon displacement.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: When the division main command post
          displaces, it is dependent upon the signal platoon to establish
          the node and provide four-wire connectivity for the
          communications center. This can take as little as 3-5 days
          dependent on the situation.

          7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: The Tactical High Mobility Terminal
          (TH14T) can provide a rapid access into the AUTODIN system
          through the corps signal element and CMO using the SUCCESS
          radio. This system can also provide an.access to ELINTA and
          imagery data which cannot be accessed through normal channels.
          8. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: XVIII Airborne Corps currently has
          three THMT systems. 24th Inf Div (Mech) should acquire one of
          these systems.

          9. (U) COMMENTS: If the 24th Inf Div (Mech) cannot obtain one
          of these systems, then the Division G2 will establish a standing
          requirement fo!7 THMT support from corps for each division
          deployment.
