          4. (U) TITLE: LAND MANAGEMENT / POSITIONING OF FIELD ARTILLERY
          UNITS

          5. (U) OBSERVATION: The 2nd Brigade was required to position
          four field artillery battalions in its sector.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: During much of the operation, the 2nd Bde
          Task Force was supported by its habitual DS FA battalion and a
          reinforcing FA brigade consisting of two cannon battalions and
          one MLRS battalion. The presence of the FA brigade meant that
          four battalions had to be positioned. In almost every instance,
          clearing land with the maneuver task force in order to forward
          position FA assets to support maneuver operations was an
          essential, but unpracticed, task within brigade operations.

          7. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Recommend that the FA.Brigade train
          with divisions to facilitate maneuver and positioning.
