          4. (U) TITLE: TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATION ASSETS OF CORPS
          SUPPORT BATTALIONS

          5. (U) OBSERVATION: If the multifunctional concept of support is
          to continue, CSB's must have the ability to be able to
          communicate and move like the maneuver elements they support.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: This necessitates that modern communications
          equipment and transportation assets be given to the CSB'S. All
          of the units in 171 CSG have antiquated communication equipment,
          much of which does not interface with the units we try to
          support. In addition, today's maintenance, field service, and
          supply and service companies continue to be about 30% mobile.
          All continue to get by with outmoded transportation assets.

          8. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: If the corps support group is to
          provide support in a timely manneri then the same types of
          communication and transportation equipment must be made
          available to these units.
