           4. (U) TITLE: LOCAL AIR WARNING ALARMS

           S. (U) OBSERVATION: Local air warning alarms are not available.
           6. (U) DISCUSSION: The command posts improvised air raid
sirens. It was done with @ipment provided by the PSYOPS unit
(speakers, tape of a siren, etc.) or with equipment locally
purchased. Most of these improvised systems did not have the
range to cover the entire site. The locally purchased, multiple
sound sirens proved to be the best solution although range was
still very limited. They have separate sounds to alert for air
attack, ground attack, chemical attack. The soldiers were
trained to recognize and react to these.

           7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Sirens must be made available, must have
a range of at least one mile, and must have recognizable sounds.

           S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Research, test, and purchase sirens
for use by command posts throughout the division.
