            4. (U) TITLE: NBC RECONNAISSANCE

            5. (U) OBSERVATION: One NBC reconnaissance platoon was unable to
            provide coverage.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: FOX reconnaissance vehicle assets were
            spread thin prior to and during the offensive. There was no FOX
            capability to conduct NBC reconnaissance along MSR's in the
            division rear area as planned. If needed, reliance would have
            been placed on the slower and less capable M113 equipped
            platoon.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: One NBC recon platoon cannot provide
            division coverage during rapid movement over extended distances.

            S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Assign a minimum of two FOX @ipped
            NBC recon platoons to heavy divisions with CENTCON missions.

            9. (U) COMMENTS: In attempts to provide NBC recon coverage to
            critical portions of the division, the recon platoon was
            fragmented into smaller sections than is recommended.
