           4. (U) TITLE: NBC DECONTAMINATION SUPPORT

           5. (U) OBSERVATION: Division decontamination assets are a scarce
           resource so their support relationships must be decided with
           care.

           6. (U) DISCUSSION: When feasible, decon assets should be used
           in general support as long as they.are responsive to the entire
           division. 24 ID offensive plan dictated fast moving operations
           over a wide area.    To support this plan, 24 ID attached decon
           assets to both forward and rear units; one decon platoon to each
           maneuver brigade, two decon platoons to division troops (forward
           units), and three decon platoons to DISCOM (rear units).
           Throughout the operation, decontamination assets were in
           position to support all units had they been needed.

           7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: In fast moving offensive operations over
           a wide area,.attaching decontamination assets to both rear and
           forward units assures responsive support to all units.
