          MEMORANDUI4 FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

          SUBJECT: Scud/Aerial Attack Procedures

          1. FAF-1 Compound:

             a. During a scud/aerial attack, soldiers will take protective
measures by donning protective masks, sounding the alarm, and
seeking shelter. Soldiers not performing a mission that requires
them to be at a duty station will assemble in the downstairs
hallway of their barracks. Soldiers will go to the appropriate
MOPP level when the order is given over the PA system.

             b. Guards and personnel outside FAF-1 will assume 40PP level 4
when there is an explosion or unidentified aircraft releasing
          bombs/bomblets or spray.

             c. The chemical detection team will report to the TOC in MOPP
level 4 where instructions and a hand-held radio will be issued.

              d. On order of the Bn NBC NCO, the detection team will use m
the M256 kit to detect vapors of chemical agents, and M8/M9 paper
to detect liquid agents in their assigned sectors. If a chemical
agent is detected, the teams will immediately radio back to the
Bn NBC NCr to inform him of the type of agent pre-;ent and the
area in which it was detected.

             e. After detecting and reporting the first contact with the
agent, the chemical detection team will move laterally 500 meters
in both directions to check for uncontaminated areas. The chemi-
cal detection teams will then radio back additional information
to the Bn NBC NCO, mark the contaminated are, and coordinate
fA

             f. Once contamination is confirmed, soldiers will be immedi-
ately notified by the PA system to go to MOPP level 4 if they are
          not already in that posture.

             g. Scud alert procedures:

                (1) "Exercise. Exercise. Exercise. This -.s a scud alert."

                (2) "This is not an exercise. This is not an exercise. This
