APPENDIX I (CONTAMINATED CASUALTY CONTROL AREA) TO ANNEX I
(MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT OF CONTAMINATED CASUALTIES) TO 244TH
-MEDICAL GROUP DESERT SHIELD OPERATIONS ORDER 001 (U)
                               UNCLASSIFIED
            C. (U) Hotline. The hotline is the dividing line between
contaminated and uncontaminated areas in a decontamination station.
All personnel will cross the hot line at the exit-entry point which
shoud be located at the final stage of decontamination. The
exit-entry point will be protected by shuffle pits of super-tropical
bleach (STB). Physical barriers and sentries could be used to
prevent transfer at other points. The actual transfer of litter
casualties/patients will be done by seperate litter teams so that the
hazard of introducing contamination by constant interchange of litter
bearers between clean and contaminated areas is minimized.

             d.(U) Clean Areas.

                 (1) (U) Location C (Treatment of Clean casualties). All
patients except contaminated emergencies not requiring additional
medical treatment are passed through this location-the clean ones
directly and the contaminated ones after decontamination in location
A and B. Effective handling in this area is essential to avoid
disorganization. In this location the casualties are administered
treatment as directed, with priority treatment for clean emergencies.

                 (2) (U) Location D (Disposition of Clean Patients).
Patients are moved to this location from locations B and C to await
        further disposition.

        2. (U) Modifications. The basic plan must be modified as necessary
to fit existing situations and facilities. At the same time
provisions to avoid the spread of contamination must be maintained.
