(ASU) in support of the Navy and the 47th Field Hospital. CPT
Whippo is performing initial/routine sanitary inspections in
Bahrain. SGT Susan Boltz remains in Southern Bahrain in support
of Marines and the Air Force. 442nd Med Bde advance party is set
up at KKMC.
24 Dec 1990
COL Alm and COL Trask's unit (320th Med Det) picked up 5
civilian rental cars in Riyadh; one car goes to COL Trask, one to
LTC Platt of the 423rd Med Det (VC) and the other three cars go
to 422nd Med Det to be used for performance of sanitary
inspections. The 422nd Med Det has established life support
(temporary) with the 251st, S & S Company which provides GS, FF&V
and class A Rations to all of KKMC and EAC north. 442nd also
took over inspection responsibilities for the 226th S & S at
KKMC. No Host Nation food inspector requirements at this date in
forward areas of KKMC. The 483rd Med Det worked at issue points
all day and night in Eastern province to finish inspections on
all Christmas issue subsistence and meats. Lieutenant General
Ledford, the Surgeon General, U.S. Army arrived in Riyadh. COL
Alm and some of his staff attended the Bob Hope Christmas Show at
Eskan Village in the afternoon.
25 Dec 1990
New MMC opening in Theater. MAJ Gaiser of the 483rd is to
get a location. COL Alm met with MG Ledford briefly. COL Trask
returned from Dhahran after visiting all sites in the Eastern
Province for 5 days. LTC Lively traveled to Bahrain to inspect
the CUNNARD Princess (Love Boat) . His report was forwarded to
ARCENT G-1 and arrangements were made for Host Nation Class A
Ration support. Future food inspections will be provided by SGT
Ralph stationed at the Bahrain ASU and CPT Whippo who has been
assigned responsibilities for Bahrain.
26 Dec 1990
Orders issued in early December which established the ARCENT
DICAL GROUP (Provisional) were recinded and orders were cut
establishing the ARCENT MEDICAL COMMAND (Provisional) . The 202nd
Medical Group, currently in Dhahran area, will move to Riyadh to
make up the bulk of the MEDCOM Staff. 5 office suites in
High-Rise at Eskan were sited today for the MEDCOM. veterinary
office, Dental office and all MEDCOM consultant offices will
remain in current office suite and all persons to be dual hatted
as ARCENT (Surgeon) staff and MEDCOM Staff. COL Alm becomes
AcofS for veterinary Services, MEDCOM as well as maintaining hats
as CENTCOM Veterinarian and ARCENT Veterinarian. COL Alm will be
in charge of the ARCENT (Surgeon) office suite. COL Tsoulos was
named by LT Gen Yousock as the MEDCOM Commander. COL Tsoulos
will not have any Deputy Commanders.
The 320th Med Det took 5 personnel and delivered civilian
cars forward to Dhahran to the 442nd Med Det. They returned late
in the evening. COL Trask coordinated movement of the 91T, SPC
