         As reads: Veterinary Corps units were not integrated into Class I
         procurement actions soon enough and Reserve Component (RC) units
         were not well prepared to perform the Class I support mission.


         Should read:   No Veterinary Corps approved Class I sources existed
         initially in Saudi Arabia and Reserve Component (RC) units were not
         well prepared to perform the Class I support mission.



         Discussion: The issue pertaining to Veterinary Corps units not
         being integrated "soon" enough into Class I procurement actions is
         plain wrong.    As following comments / corrections indicate,
         Veterinary Corps personnel and units were integrated into these
         procurement actions as soon as they arrived in theater.          The
         problem is not the speed of integration but the fact that no
         approved Class I sources existed in Saudi Arabia prior to the
         deployment .   Additionally, given the valid decision to deploy
     p   combat units almost exclusively early-on, appropriate veterinary
         personnel did not arrive in theater until early September 1990.
         Again, as soon as appropriate personnel arrived, they were
         integrated into the Class I procurement action system.
