        SUBJECT: Chemical Conference (10FY91)

                (3) Joint and Combined Training. MSC were reminded to
look for joint and combined training opportunities with the
Saudis and sister services. In particular, the Saudi Ministry of
Interior requested hasty decontamination training. In return +or
.this training they will coordinate US use of local fire
protection systems. Reconnaissance and decon training
opportunities exist with MARCENT and should be pursued by 24th
In+ Div (Mech), 3d ACR, and 2d Chem Bn. The need to integrate
training under NBC conditions in future CALFEX was emphasized.
Wear of chemical protective ensembles during live fire exercises
        supports unit METL.

                (4) Lessons Learned. Units were asked to submit lessons
learned which can immediately benefit the Chemical Corps and
Army. Copies of unit NBC JULLS were also requested.

            g. Saudi Arabia National Guard. MAJ Buchanan, Chemical
School representative supporting OPM SANG, briefed on the status
of CDE fielding to SANG units and the status of SANG training.

        4. Issues and Discussion.

        Issue. What are the procedures for disposing of old CDE items;
specifically, DS2 and lithium batteries in Saudi Arabia? (24th
        In+ Div (Mech), lst Cav).

Discussion. This issue was raised early on to ARCENT. EUCOM has
been identified to provide an in-country DRMO to support this
mission. CONUS-based rules for packaging and disposing of
hazardous material apply in Saudi Arabia.

Issue. Shortage of M12AI parts, MSAI, BDO, and NAPP (24th Inf
Div (Mech), 101st Abn Div (AASLT), 3d ACR, XVIII Abn Corps Arty).

        Discussion.

            - Current MTOE don't reflect actual unit requirements for
MBAL. Each MSC should scrub MTOE for Plus LTPS. (LTC Schubert)

s submitted with
        supporting rationale. (COL Barbeau)
