               h.  Problem Requiring  Corps Assistance

                   (1) Brigade currently has a 31 day backlog of effort
           for the entire FMC fleet of bulldozers. This volume of work does
           not include work estimates for Log Base E, Tapline road and
           pipeline crossing sites, Corps barrier training area, or
           survivability missions for higher headquarters CPs. Recent
           effort on FRAGO 34-91 (Defense of Wadi Al Batin Approach)
           expended hundreds of hours of dozer and scraper effort. The
           result is two battalions falling below 90% OR for D7 dozers. I
           have directed work reduction in those units. If we ape to
           maintain an operational engineer effort for future operations, we
           must cease the multitude of isolated 'digging in" projects and
           only focus on the top priority missions stated above.

      (2) Understand significance of dust pallative. Have
           received an additional 300 barrels. Will continue max effort in
           this area. We have Deceived only 10% of total material
           requirement for current airfields in Corps.

                   (3) Ede is maximizing use of organic haul assets. When
           not moving heavy engineer equipment, we continue to transport
           arriving CSE companies from port and hauling maps to the Corps
           TAAS.


                   (4) The crossing site locations for 1 AD near LOG BASE E
           are still not available. Completion time will be delayed as a
           result.


                   (5) '@ecent task organization changes for training
           purposes increases the requirement fop issue of night vision and
           LORAN devices to brigade units. We need them now.
