       were  taken to a doctor in Najif. One, who died, had red spots all

       Testing the  fluid with MS paper, they determined the children had been
       contaminated with non-persistant blister agents.

       4. @ Atrocities:
               .a. In Basra, soldiers'6xecuted 16 children, ages 12-17, and
       propped the bodies against a wall they called the "education fence."
                b. Ali Hassan Majid issued an order to run people over with
       tanks instead of shooting them.
                c. LT Fauik, chief of the Samawa police, with the help of two
       other'men, tied a man to the bumper of his car and dragged him to
       death. They left the body in the street. That same day, LT Fauik
       tied up a man, gouged out his eyes, then threw him into the river to

                d. A source formerly of the
       Tawakalna related the gang rape of the Phillipino nurses working at
       the hospital in Al Jahra. The officers put the nurses one to a room
       and lined up in the hallways, taking turns, for three nights. Three
       nurses tried to escape; soldiers shot them in the back. The officers
       beat the nurses if they refused to have sex. The source said he saw
urses tied to chairs
                                      left. (DOI 5 Aug 90) On 12 Aug 90, in
       Al Reqa, the same source saw members of his unit carrying cases
       containing premature babies out of the hospital. They threw the'
       babies into a truck, tossing the now-empty cases into another truck.
       They dumped the babies along the coast; they took the cases to Iraq.

       5. +@+ Destruction of towns:
                a. Hussein has ordered all towns from Tanuma to Al Qurnah
       destroyed. A general from the "Abo Obaydall Ist Div of the RGFC has
       told his soldiers to warn the populace to vacate their homes.
       Soldiers did so on 26 Mar 91 in Shal Al Arab, a town near Tanuma,
       using loudspeakers mounted on their vehicles. On 28 Mar 91,
       bulldozers moved into Shal Al Arab to raze the town.
                b. Since 25 Mar 91, goverrment,forces have been razing all
       marimade structures, except the older mosques, in Karbala. The
       government will reimburse Bafath Party members and officials.
                c. Soldiers are bulldozing Najif as well. DOI 2 Apr 91
