     Subject: Use of chemical agents against civilians by Iraqi forces


     Summary: Two soldiers, 4-7 Inf, located vicinity N3040.93 E04657.26
     treated several children for injuries that could be due to chemical
     agent attacks by Iraqi forces.

     Text: information derived from a U.S. military source. On 29

     Sgt Omar Rivera and Spc Timothy K. Jones, HHC 4-7 Inf, treated..a
     child for blisters on his left log. on 30 Marcb§l the-satie child
     returned with more blisterq. The blisters were cut and the fluid
     tested with M-8 paper which turned pink indicating blister agent.,--31
     Mar 91 the child returned for treatment again, but with three other
     casualties with the same type injuries. A doctor was called, but the
     victims departed before he arrived and have not returned. The
     victims spoke of helicopters causing their injuries. Additionally,
     two civilians, at 2100hrs 20 Mar 91, spoke of children dying after
     helicopters flew over. They stated that they asked and twitched then
     died. other children wore lined up and killed by a firing squad.
     The civilians complained of chemical use in their town located
     approximately 8 Kms northeast from the scout location (N3040.93
     E04657.26) The civilians also complained about food and water
     shortages. Stating the only ones who eat are the Iraqi soldiers.
