zxzxx22 NOVEMBER 1990 Activities continue, loadout complete at end
of day. All unit members confined to post. Unit attended
Thanksgiving dinner at the Camp Blanding Officers club provided by
DPTMS Major and Mrs. N.L. Redding and family.
xxxxx 23 NOVEMBER 1990 (Thanksgiving day) unit's Thanksgiving
dinner consisted of pizzas and cokes. Operations as normal, All
Mobilization task complete. Unit ready for movement.
x*zz=24 NOVEMBER 1990 Unit advance party leaves enroute to Ft.
Stewart, Georgia at 0430hrs. Arrives 0900hrs makes contact with
the Mobilization Assistance Team (MAT) and the Mobillzatl*n
Operation Center (MOC), drew barracks and orderly room. Began
lnprocessing unit.
zxzx%25 NOVEMBER 1990 Main body departed Camp Blanding at 1000hrs
after send off by MG Robert Enssilin, Jr. Arrived at Ft Stewart,
Ga. at 1400hrs.
zx*zz27 NOVEMBER 1990 Unit begins mobilization processing at Ft.
Stewart, ie; finance, dental, administrative. Unit still ordering
and receiving equipment shortages, NBC section priority with
communications and mission tools second.
xxvx=29 NOVEMBER 1990 Unit commences weapons qualifications, NBC
certification and repack of unit equipment.
z*xxz3O NOVEMBER 1990 Unit notified of date for deployment to
theater, on or about 13 December 1990.
I'@*11 thru 10 DECEMBER 1990 the 221st (EOD) begins to receive fax
and equipment intelligence information from FORSCOM EOD
Headquarters. All unit members begin attending top secret
classified briefings reference: enemy ordnance, weapons systems,
and terrorist activities, given exclusive to EOD units by USAMMC
(Redstone Ars., Picatinny Ars., Aberdeen Proving Grounds and
Technical Intelligence Center NAVSCOLEOD, Indianhead, Md. SGT
Bennefteld flies with Toxilogical Agents Protective (TAP) suits to
Anniston, Al. f o rcertification and returned same day. All
weekends thus far have been oppn to family visits, the Sth and the
9th was the last family weekend prior to the 221st's deployment to
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
DECEMBER 1990 Unit moves all equipment to staging area at
Hunter Army Airfield (HAAF). Equipment is again downloaded and
inspected by the Air Force Deployment Airlift Command Group (DACG).
Dash 11 items, (Flammable, Corrosives, and ot her Hazardous
ma t er i a I s ) were segrega t ed and pel let i zed , t hen a I I ot her equi pment
was re-packed, blocked and braced. The 221st Is ready for
deployment.
