      (U) :3. PHAS;R 11 - 15 FEB 91 to 23 FEB 91
TF 2-16 Location: Forward Assembly Area, 2 lm south of
                  Iraq-Saudi line

(U)a. Disposition and Composition: No major changes were noted in
the original assessment. The U/I ID was reassessed as the 4B ID,
known to be a light infantry division.
(U)@. Strengtht Allied airstrikes in the 4B fD area continued the
destruction of enemy artillery and armor assets. Major air,
artillery, and MLRS strike concentrations against the enemy front
line destroyed troops, support equipment and headquarters
elements. A 200500 FEB 91 intelligence summary placed
"collective strength of the 25, 31, and 48 ID at 55% based on
tanks and main artillery tube counts only."
(U)C. Significant Activities- Limited, nighttime, mounted
reconnaissance was conducted by the enemy during Fftse II. No
engineer work was detected in our sector, nor did the Iraqis.
place any artillery fires on the task force. Division assets
detected limited vehicle movements behind enemy lines during
nighttime, and these activities were assessed to be related to
        resupply.
(u)". Probable Course of Action* The enemy would continue to defend
in sector, preparing -For th@ Allied ground assault. Limited
defections during nighttime would continue - and desertion to the
north would continue to decrease enemy combat troop strength. The
enemy was'no longer thought to have the ability to launch major
        armored spoiling attacks.
