                4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: NBC LOGISTICS AND TRAINING OF DIVISION
                REPLACEMENTS

                5. (U) OBSERVATION: During the period between divisional
                railroad of equipment and actual passenger airflow, replacements
                were sized, outfitted and passed thru the CS Chamber before
                reporting to deploying divisional units.

                6. (U) DISCUSSION: Ist ID (M) shipped its unassigned and
                authorized 5% overage of masks and accessories by rail to port
                during November and December 1990. Since passenger airflow did
                not occur until late December 1990 and -January 1991,
                replacements received in the interim period (approximately 600
                in the month of December 1990) required additional protective
                mask, accessories and chemical suit.
                    Only installation stocks were available. Protective masks
                out of ROTC support stocks in Reserve Component Branch (RCB)
                were used. Accessories came from Central Issue Facility (CIF)
                of DOL and chemical suits from excess stocks in CIF warehouse.

                    Since all deploying soldiers required a properly fitted
semble -Followed by a
                CS chamber exercise were necessary as well.

                7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: none

                f3. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Turn in unassigned masks even though
                TOE item. In-theater replacements to arrive with mask.
