                 4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: FIELDING OF M17 LIGHTWEIGHT DECON SYSTEM
                 (LDS)

                 5. (U) OBSERVATION: The M17 SANATOR above was fielded to the
                 Division an 19-22 Nov 90 in advance of deployment to SWA.

                 6. (U) DISCUSSION: (a) NET Training was scheduled for the M17
                 SANATOR one day ahead of fielding to units (approximately 2 per
                 battalion and separate company) -for a total of 57 systems.

                      (b) Transport of the M17 sanator became a major issue
                 during fielding. The Division C/S directed that units with
                 with legitimate transport problems could be reissued the 800
                 series 5-Ton truck if they expressed a need for the vehicle.

                      (c) Fielding for the lst ID (M) was successful and was so
                 cited by BB David A. Nydam, Commander, CRDEC, APB, MD in
                 Memorandum of Appreciation to ILT Michele Wreggelsworth in Jan
                 91.
