                 e. MAJ Frazier, G-4, reported there are 28,509 CPOGs in LBE.
Any units wanting their ASL had to request it.

            26 FEB 91:

                 a. MAJ Cortes, Rear Chem, reported 5 push packages assembled:
2 Bn, 2 Co, and 1 Chem Co.

                 b. SSG Boyer, ARCENT, developed a plan for collecting,
transporting, and disposing of any located chemical equipment.
They would publish it after the war so as not to confuse the
            situation.

                 C. TAC still worked on linking 2d Chem with 1AD. They also
said the injured Fox crew was only slightly injured and would be
back to duty within 24 hours.

            27 FEB 91:

                 a. An Iraqi Chemical NCO held as an EPW was interviewed. fie
stated a blue whistling flare is the warning to Iraqi troops of
chemical fires. He also stated artillery rounds with chemical
            fills are marked IAW following:

Nerve Agent --- 3 Red Stripes
Choking Agent --- 3 Green Stripes
Blister Agent --- 3 Yellow Stripes

                 b. 51st Chem Co was on hold to move to Log Base Nellingen
because priority of movement was to maneuver units. Two platoons
were on standby to move within two hours notice. The entire
company was on order to be at Log Base Nellingen which was forward
of the LD and breach within 6 hours after notification.

                 c. COL Thornton directed TAC be contacted to recommend to COL
Cherrie, Corps G-3, that the Corps MOPP level be reduced to zero
south of Phase Line Smash and West of the 60 N-S Grid Line. This
would help MSR preparation, 2ACR recovery, and Log Base Nellingen
erations. Corps TAC Chem, CPT Shuplinkov briefed the G-3. lie
decided to stay with MOPP-1 because there was too much
confusion/turmoil on the battlefield now to reduce it; but, he
would reconsider IAW the heat/temperature index. Several units
called throughout the day wanting reconfirmation of the level. 7th
Engineer Brigade representative said COSCOM and MP units across the
LD weren't maintaining MOPP-1 as part of his argument for lowering
            the MOPP level to zero.
