             later after much calling to confirm this report the situation
             became clarified.     The engineer was from Co D, 12th Engineers
             supporting 3AD. During the demo of an Iraqi vehicle he got hit by
             some industrial chemical, such as battery acid and he did breathe
             some harmful fumes - not a war gas.

                 c. ARCENT reported IMARDIV sent individuals to check suspected
             chemical munitions storage site (no grid available) on 28 Feb.
             Initial results of testing indicated mustard agent.         An NBC/EOD
             team re-evaluated the site with more sensitive equipment.           They
             determined that no chemical agent was present. Initial readings
             were result of petrochemical burning.

                 d. 1/4 Cav, 1ID(M) reports they may have located a chemical
             RPG round at QT586972. It has a white tip and is marked in Russian
             'ICE - CHME". Report passed to the G-2 for disposition.

             2 MAR 91:

                 a. 1ID(M) CHEMO reported 2 Fox vehicles and 2 decon platoons
             from 12th Chem Co would support the scheduled cease fire conference
             at Safwan.

                 b.   MAJ Brown, S-3, 2d Chem Bn reported they are now giving
             showers to   3AD soldiers.     He requested grid locations of all
             divisions.   He wanted to know who would ensure 2d Chem Bn was
             factored in  to re-deployment planning.

             3 MAR 91:

                 a.   Two persons reported missing from 11 Chem Co.        During a
             night convoy movement through the breach a SSG and a SPC in a truck
             became detached from the convoy. A 15-6 investigation was
             initiated.

                 b. Confirmed chemical casualty. Individual assigned to HHC,
art of a mission to destroy vehicles and bunkers.
             His unit was using thermite grenades on vehicles and entering
             bunkers to check for ordnance.      He was wearing a Nomex suit and
             kevlar vest.     Felt a burning sensation on his upper arm and
             reported to the Aid Station on 2 Mar with blisters on the upper arm
             (1/411 by 1/211).   Clothing checked by Fox vehicle read CX and
             Lewisite. Was verified by a 2d Fox. Later, Fox vehicles were used
             to sample the bunker; traces of mustard were detected. The Nomex
             suit and kevlar vest were secured and later evacuated out of the
             KTO to the US for verification. The individual was examined by a
             special chemical medical casualty team headed by COL Dunn; soldier
