MEMORANDUM FOR: Commander, 72nd Field Artillery Brigade, APO 09047

SUBJECT: 4-27 FA Situation Report: 11 FEB - 17 FEB

         1. @@ Operations: The battalion minus is still attached to Ist
Armored Division with the mission of GS IAD. Our location is NS
154902. Battery C remains attached to 210th FA BDE with the mission
of GS to 2 ACR. The battalion has moved to FAA Garcia and is
preparing for comba't operations. The battalion is waiting for the
Division operations order. G-day is still unknown.

         2. (U) A CPX to rehearse the operations order is being planned.
Soldier's basic skills, personal hygiene and PIVCS are stressed. The
move to FAA Garcia. total of 170 to 180 kilometers, was accomplished
with out any major maintenance problems.

         3. -W4 Personnel: The battalion currently has 537 personnel,
         including MST, LST.

            a. (U) Corneal abrasions are the only reoccurring medical
problem. Soldiers need to wear their goggles while moving.

            b. (U) The morale of the battalion remains high. 0-day is
approaching and that brings up morale. During major moves the
information becomes scarce. The key thing to the attitude of the
         soldiers is getting them information.

4..W+ Logistics: The major problem the battalion is facing remains
         parts for the launchers.

               a. (U) Class I. Meal cycle continues to be MRE-MRE-B or T for
supper although we anticipate straight MREs beginning 2'0 Feb. Water
may become a problem. The Division drilled a water well and stuck
         oil insteadl

               b. -O&@-Class II and IV 'does not exist. Tremble OPS batteries
(BA 5800/U) and NVG batteries are still a problem.

               c. .4CP.@ Class III Bulk. Currently not a problem, but only
because the battalion has worked it so hard. Even then, when we
arrived in FAA Garcia, our tankers were dry because 2SUPOOM did not
give the division the promised 5000 gal tankers. Fuel consumption
remained 125 to 130% of normal due to soft sand.
