              For our soldiers in Saudi
Submitted by SSgt Roger A lioeller
The following poem was composed by Jennifer Smith, the
daughter of a deployed soldier with the 82nd EN in Saudi
              Arabia.

              We're proud to be Americans.
              We're proud of the USA.
We know there's a war being fought in Saudi today.
              Saddam doesn't stand a chance.
He'll never learn the secret from the Blue Babe neighborhood.
Our dads are over there fighting and all our friends are too.
But don't worry Blue Babe soldiers.
              Because we really love you.

06 Mar 91: The Battalion receives o/o FRAGO to move to King Khalid Military
City (KKVC). 2ACR conducts AAR. Battalion starts to turn in our bullets,
PB tablets, and CANA. Battalion will pick up one M113A2 to replace the
destroyed APC. We can hear British Armed Forces Radio.

07 Mar 91: The first Blue Babe soldiers, a total of nine from the original
1000 slots available in the KTO, return to FRG. The Battalion receives the
largest shipment of mail yet. Most of it had been waiting for the Battalion
unable to get it forward. Some soldiers receive 50-75 letters and numerous
packages. BMO takes M916s back to LogBase Echo in anticipation for the move
     to KKMC. MORES for dinner.

08 Mar 91: The quartering party, led by CPT Keith Samuels, leaves for KKVC.
At Command and Staff meeting, LTC Slattery briefs the commanders on the
'focus' of the deployment back to Germany. Highlights are concerns for
soldiers, safety, and the mind set that the mission is not over until
recovery is complete in Germany. Today the Regiment calls for a shakedown
of all soldiers for unexploded ordnance and pyrotechnics.

09 Mar 91: GEN Schwartzkopf meets with representatives of Iraq to discuss
the signing of truce agreement. The quartering party closes at KKMC at
1045. LTG Franks (VII Corps Commanding General) visits the 2ACR today. He
says that the cease fire will not be signed until 22 March or later. The
82nd will stay here for another 10-14 days. The 2ACR receives a warning
order to move north. Commanders are directed to initiate training
     schedules.

11 Mar 91: Battalion receives order to chop B and D Companies to Corps and
move west to conduct demo missions. No logistical support is provided.
The Commander therefore moves the BN (-) which is HIIC, B, D west to
establish a base. A and C Companies remain with 2ACR. Upon BN (-) closure
and coordination with 7th EN Brigade, the S3 moves an additional 80km west
and starts destroying 42 assigned targets. The Battalion is now split into
four parts in three different countries.

12 Mar 91; B and D Company are out with the S-3 track performing demolition
missions to the west. The Battalion gets the official word today that
personnel can wear the 2ACR patch as a combat patch. The Bat4aiion also
receives a warning order that it will go to the IID sector (northern
Kuwait) to perform demolition missions. LTC Slattery is already concerned
that the Battalion is getting too spread out. Word is received at 2200
