          MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

          SUBJECT: Change 1 to RPCT Predeploym6nt NBC Training and
          Certification for Desert Shield


          1. Purpose. To provide guidance and Bet responsibilities for the
          conduct of NBC training and certification (12-29 Dec) for the RFCT.

          2. General.

              a. in order to prepare for Desert Shield deployment, RFCT NBC
          readiness training will focus on the following areas:

                    (1) Individual NBC Survival Skills.

                    (2) NBC Team Training.

                    (3) NBC Leader Tasks (squad leaders and above).

              b. The RFCT will conduct NBC round robin trainng 12-29 Dec
          90. 2-32 AR has been tasked to provide the training along with
          selected individuals from throughout the brigade. The objective at
          each station is not to teach the soldier skills he already should
          know, but to verify the soldier's proficiency, make on the spot
          corrections as necessary and check equipment for serviceability.

                   The following tasks will be evaluated.

                 STATION
                    1 - Maintain M17/M25 Series Protective Mask. Correct
          .deficiencies.

                    2 - a.  Store protective mask in carrier.
                        b.  Put on and wear protective mask with hood.
                        c.  Check seal and optical inserts.

                    3 - a.  Put on/wear protective clothing (MOPP 4).
                        b.  Put M9 paper on KOPP suit.
                        c.  Use M8 Detector paper to identify chemical agents.
