4.d. The unit media became the Medic of choice within the Log Base. He
provided first aid to over 30 Iraqi men, women, and children, and helped save
the lives of over 50 sick or injured U.S. soldiers.
4.e. The units' mail took over one month to arrive once we were in SWA.
Several soldiers spoke with their family members and mail was being sent, but
it took over 2 1/2 months before they saw their Ist letter. This was a big
moral problem.
4.f. Logistics side of the house was also a big problem. We couldn't get-the
spare parts or other items we needed to complete our missions. Several
occasions we had trouble getting ice, water, A rations, and we never did
receive our second tier of ammunition.
4.g. Lack of transportation to move unit equipment was also a major issue.
Unit members had to go out an their own and find NO transportation units
(Active Army wouldn't help us at all) and ask them to move our equipment.
While still at HS, we were told to put as much of the units' equipment in
4'x4' crates, which was a bad idea because we did not have the trailers or
vehicles to move the crates around with us once in SWA.
Also enclosed is a copy of another AAR for the D110B Issue, which was not
addressed in your survey.
If I can be of further assistance I can be reached at DSN: 623-0621 Dr Comm:
