When you waited in line, you had plenty of time to visit with
folks from all kinds of units, swap "war stories" and hear that
there are units who live worse than we do!
9 March 1991
Today we have the showers set up again and, glory of
glories, we receive our first hot shower in 18 days! This is a
real morale booster, and we relax and enjoy visits from
surrounding units. R and R, Kuwaiti style.
10 March 1991
The Division Surgeon of the lst Armored Division, LTC
Fitzharris, comes to the unit today and presents us with a plaque
and expresses the appreciation of the entire division for the fine
support they received from the unit. As if this is not enough
excitement for one day, we receive two five-ton truckloads of
mail. The volume of packages and letters is so great that it
takes 2 and 1/2 hours to distribute it all. Someone jokes that we
must be getting ready to move, as in the past receipt of boxes has
always been linked, inexplicably, with this activity. We soon
would see how accurate this statement was!
