     13. IS January 1991      First combat medevac mission is   performed by unit
     aircrews based at temporary assembly area Henry.

     14. 20 January 1991 - Unable to obtain assistance from.Second COSCOM, unit
     finds it's own transportation assets to Move 400 Miles West to the location
     of the 332d Medical Brigade-

     15. 21 January 1991- With no place to stay, the 316th Medical Detachment
     temporarily establishes operations at the location of the 428th MEDSOM.

     16. 23 January 1991 - Unit prepares to move itself to temporary assembly
     area Henry which is in the middle of a vast desert 40 - So miles east of King
     Kahlid Military City.

     17. 24 January 1991 - During preparation for movement, the unit is
     reassigned to the 217th Medical Battalion, Colorado National Guard,      Pueblo,
     Co, and will now be providing medical evacuation for the 2d Armored      Cavalry
     Regiment (ACR).

     18. 1 February 1991 - The unit moves itself to a location 15 miles       west of
     Hafir Al Batin, Saudi Arabia, joining the 217th Medical Battalion-       unit
     continues 24,hour operations. Night Vision Goggle mission training       is
        oleted under decreasing light conditions down to zero illumination.
    4@9-  .2 - 4 February 1991 - The unit is given the additional responsibility of
     providing medical evacuation support for the Forward Support and Main support
     Battalions of the First Cavalry Division. At this point, the majority of
     unit aircraft and aircrews are moved to forward locations with their
     supported units. Lack of available aircraft repair parts and constant use
     present unit operations, and especially maintenance, with a formidable
     challenge. They rise to the occasion and the unit never misses one critical
     mission during their entire period of deployment, even in the incredibly,
     harsh environment.

     20. 7 February 1991 - Four unit members respond unhesitatingly to an
     extremely hazardous mission involving a downed U.S. MEDEVAC aircraft which
     they believe to have been involved in a chemical attack. Seven U.S. soldiers
     lives are at stake and prompt response is necessary. For their heroic'
     efforts, all four flight crew members are recommended for the Soldier's
     Medal.

     21. IS February 1991 - Task Force elements of the Second Brigade, First
     Cavalry Division begin a series of intrusion into Iraq, code named "Berm
     Busters', because they are north of the berm which had been built up to
     define the border between Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The 316tl) Medical
     Detachment moves aircraft forward to prearranged ambulance exchange points.

     22. 20 February 1991 - During one of the "Berm Buster" operations, elements
