(5) crewmembers and passengers will be briefed. As a
minimum, those items on page P-1, TM 55-1520-237-CL will be
covered.
(6) At least two operable survival radio will be on board.
(7) weapons will be cleared with magazines removed.
(8) Health Indicator Test (HIT) will be accomplished on the
ground prior to the first flight of the day. If the TGT is out
of limits, the check will be performed immediately after takeoff.
If the check remains out of limits, the aircraft will land as
soon as practicable.
b. Actions to be accomplished AFTER takeoff.
(1) oil well fires will be avoidc4 by 1 mile horizontally
and 1000 feet vertically. Additionally, helicopters will not be
flown downwind of oil well fires in a proximity which would allow
oil residue to accumulate on the aircraft surfaces.
(2) Flight following will be maintained with the aviation
detachment operations section via FM 69.00.
C. Inadvertent IMC procedures are per the Aviation Procedures
Guide. If flight visibility or ceilings drop below minimums, the
PC will reverse course or land and wait until conditions improve.
The following also applies:
(1) Contact Kuwait Approach Control on VHF 121.3. Request
radar vectors for an ILS approach to runway 15R or 33L at Kuwait
International Airport.
(2) If VFR conditions exist at decision height, the PC may
continue the mission. If conditions are below VFR minimums, the
PC will land and advise Avn Det Ops of the situation.
ii. Pre-Accident Plan. The detachment commander will ensure the
following agencies are contacted when informed of an aircraft
mishap. fie will provide the type and number of aircraft in-
volved, total number of personnel on board, and location in MGRS
coordinates. Each agency phone number and alternate will be
posted conspicuously near the telephone in Avn Det operations.
