               I5SUE: Attachmeiit to il!ID 2nd Chemical Battalion
DISCUSSI6N: This platoon did not belong with a headquarters and
headquarters detachment,.of a corps level Chemical battalion. In essence we
were a maneuver asset that was stalemated because we didn't fit into their
mi.ssi-on as planners.@Lnd supporters. We weire continually micromanaged and not
allowed to train out in the desert@ 'Fortunately, we were allowed out of the
.Compound we were staying' in on.two separat@e occasions. Once for a three day
FTX and once for a five day 17TX. We were able to gain valuable.lessons about
the desert and its impact on the operating systems of the FOX (NBCRS) when we
were afforded these opportunities. It's t:oo bad that this opportunity was
  only afforded to us t@wlice.

RECOMMEND.@LTION: Never put a I'OX (NBCRS) platoon with a corps
level chemical battalion unless their NTOF: is-modified to reflect a FOX
(NBCRS) company in addition '@o the organic de6on company and mechanized smoke
company. @Such a configuration..woiil.d atlow an experienced FOX (NBCRS) captain
to empl oy his assets in an intelligent and meaningful manner and also ensure
that the platoonl@; training needs are properly tended-to.
