         APPENDIX I (HEALTH SERVICES) to ANNEX D (Operations) to 3D MEDCOM
         FSOP

                       (g) Urinals will be properly constructed at all
         latrines.


                 (5)   Garbage Disposals:

                       (a) Garbage - pit.

                       (b) Liquid Kitchen wastes - soakage pit.

                 (6) Vector Control:

                       (a) Responsibility - Vector control is a command
         responsibility.

                       (b) Field sanitation teams - A field sanitation
         team will be appointed on unit orders in compliance with
         paragraph 11-7, AR 40-5.

                       (c) Training - Field sanitation teams will be
         trained in the proper vector control procedures.

                       (d) Vector control procedures:

                           1. Clear away brush and vegetation from
         vicinity of the bivouac area.

                           2.  Keep animals out of the bivouac area.

                           3.  Maintain proper personnel hygiene.

                           4.  Conduct frequent inspections of personnel
         and bivouac areas.


                           5.  Proper use of personal protective measures.

                           6.  Proper use of insecticides (sprays,
         repellents, and dusts) and impregnation of uniforms.

                           7. Early detection and prevention of contact
         with infected personnel.
