             Category D. Malaria-free areas. Chemoprophylaxis not
         recommended.


             - Kuwait
             - Qatar
             - Bahrain

             If, before/after Persian Gulf ops, port visits are
         anticipated in Kenya (14ombassa) or Mauritius, the following
         information on Malaria applies:
             - Kenya: High risk. Chloroquine-resistant falciparum
         Malaria is widespread. Chemoprophylaxis recommended for all port
         visits regardless of duration of stay, in addition to personal
         protective measures. Chemoprophylaxis with Chloroquine and
         terminal Chemoprophylaxis with Chloroquine/Primaquine is
         recommended.

             Mauritius: Low risk. Risk in rural areas only, except no
         risk on Rodrigues island. Only P. vivax reported. No
         Chloroquine resistance reported. Chemoprophylaxis recommended
         for all risk areas.

             All medical personnel should review The Navy Medical
      --,.Department.Guide to Malaria Prevention and Control and have
         adequate treatment drugs available (such as Fansidar, Quinine,
         and/or Mefloquine).

         7. Other Vector Borne Diseases

         ...---Low risk. Diseases reported to be present in various parts
      ..--of the region include: Leishmaniasis, Sandfly fever, Tick Borne
         Relapsing fever, and Flea Borne Typhus.

             Iran and Iraq - Congo Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever is present,
         with high mortality and potential for person-to-person
         transmission, e.g. in hospital environments. Low risk.

         9.  Sexually Transmitted Diseases

             Low risk. All forms presumably present.
             Avoidance of sexual contact is the best prevention, but if
         contacts occur, "safe" sexual practices, such as use of condoms,
         are strongly advised. Treatments and contact management should
