               Subj:   DISEASE SURVEILLANCE REPORT - 9 to 15 SEPTEMBFA


               1. The  following disease patterns have been reported in the
               surveillance system for the week of 9 to 15 September. A
               total of 19 Battalion Aid Stations caring for 15463 persons
               per week are represented in this data. Efforts are being
               made to increase enrollment within USMC forces. (Unit
               identities are not shown in this unclassified version)

               Significant trends:
                   *Diarrhea at SITE A has been significant over the past 3
               weeks, with rates of 3 to 6% per week. Chow hall
               deficiencies (primarily local national participation in food
      preparation) have been identified, and are being addressed.
               Political considerations partially constrain PM.

                   **Respiratory,disease continues to be a common sick call
               complaint at SITE A, possibly related to crowded conditions.
               Morbidity has been minimal.
