      vi. May 8 (TOXIC)

Blood agents are absorbed into the body primarily
by breathing. They affect the body functions
            through enzyme action, cytchrome oxidize,
thus preventing the normal utilization of oxygen
by the cells and causing rapid damage to the
            tissues.

            1. HYDROGEN CYANIDE (AC)

               a PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

                 (1) Physical State: LiQurD/oAs

                 (2) Rate of Action-. Very Rapid

                 (3) Odor: BITTER ALMONDS

                 (4) Duration of Eff*ctivenege; VERY
                 SNORT

                 (5) Rate of Hydrolysis; slow

                 (0) Rat* of D*toxification: WID

                 (7) Rat* of Action: VKRY RAPRD.
Death occurs within 15 minutes after a lethal dosage has
                 been r*ceivod.

             (b) TACTICAL USX

                 Quick-acting casualty agent.

             (c) PHYSIOLooreAL ACTION

                 (1) AC interferes with the utilization
of oxygen by the body tissue.

                 (2) AC also causes a marked TNCRMZ
                 in the breathing rat*.

             (d) PROTICTION ISQUIRSP

                 Prot*ctLve clothing and prottative mask.

             (e) DI[CONTAPAWATM

                 Non* r*quired under field conditions.

            2. CTAWOQXM CgLoglpX (CX)

Very similar to AC, in also the TJ. S. standard
                 blood agent.
