              (a) PUTSICAL PITOPERTIRS

                  (1) Physical State: Gas

                  (2) Rat* of Action: RAPID

                  (3) Odor: Its irritating and lacrimatory
properties are so great that the odor
                  can go unnoticed.
                  (4) Duration oi Effectiveness: SHORT

                  (5) Rate of Hydrolysis: SLOW

                  (6) Rate of D*toxification: RAPID

                  (7) Rat* of Action: Not available. It is
assumed that the effects of CM arises
from its conversion to AC in the body.

              (b) TACTICAL USE

                  Quick-acting casualty agent. Used for
degradation of the canisters or filter
                  olem*nts in protective mask.

              (c) PHYSIOLOGICALL ACTION

                  (1) The general action of CM is similar
to that of AC with the following exceptions:

                  (2) CM has a strong TEARING effect.

                  (3) CM has a strong IRRITATIff(3 effect.

                  (4) CM also DSCARASRS DENATHING rate.

                      (a) Cyanog*n Chloride CX will cause
the chemicals in the filter elements of
&II protective mask to break down. The
filter should be changed &a quickly as
                      practical following AL 'CX* attack.

              (d) PRMCTIOX RIQUIRRD

Prot*ativo Mask. CM will penetrate &
protoctiv* mask canister or filter element
more readily than most other &$onto. A
very high concentration may overpower the
filter and break down its protoctiv* ability.

                  DICONTAUMNATION

                  Non* required under field conditions.

              (f) S@OUS OF BLOOD AOSSTS (AC & CX)
